Sick Policy
Illness
Although some illnesses do not require exclusion, sometimes illness requires a child or staff member to be excluded from care to prevent the spread of infection to other children and staff and to allow the child time to rest, recover and be treated for the illness. This policy outlines illnesses and situations that require exclusion.
Fever
If your child has a fever of 100.5º F or higher, please keep him/her at home. If your child develops a fever of 100.5º F or higher while at Kingdom Kids, you will be called to pick them up. If your child’s fever is less than 100.5º F, you will be notified and you may express your wishes to the staff at that time.
Your child must remain free of fever for 24 hours before returning to Kingdom Kids. The 24 hours begins when your child’s fever has broken and remains in a normal range. We will check their temperature again upon arrival to confirm. This policy protects all children in the childcare.
Coughs and Colds
While colds are common, there are some symptoms that warrant keeping a child at home. These include, but are not limited to a hacking or persistent cough, green or yellow nasal drainage, or a cough with green or yellow phlegm being coughed up. Please notify the staff if your child has a cold.
Rash
A rash can be a sign of various illnesses such as, chicken pox, poison ivy, ring worm, hand foot mouth, etc. Please do not send your child to the childcare center with a rash until seen by a doctor. The parent/guardian will be contacted to pick your child and they may not return without a doctor’s note.
Diarrhea and Vomiting
Diarrhea due to illness is highly contagious. If your child has diarrhea, please keep them at home. If your child has 3 or more diarrhea episodes, or any uncontained diarrhea while at childcare, you will be called to pick them up. Our child care providers always use gloves while changing diapers and use proper hand washing techniques between diaper changes. The changing table is also disinfected after each diaper change. Please understand that germs from diarrhea can be spread through carpets, toys, and direct contact. It is very difficult to keep from spreading these germs to other children. If your child is sick, please keep him/her at home.
If your child vomits while at childcare, you will be called to pick them up. Please keep your child at home for 24 hours after the vomiting has stopped. ids will be closed the Friday before. If it falls on a Sunday, we will close the Monday after.
